Over Looked

This album should have been on my best of the year list. I'm surprised I haven't seen it in anyone's lists this year. It's an amazing album. It's what I need tonight.
I think it's pretty rockin' too. I hate to say that because I'm kind of a wimp when it come to rock n' roll music.
I saw them live this summer and really enjoyed it. . .

Any who, Manchester Orchestra- Mean Everything To Nothing. It's good.

Happy New Year!

I'm Through Always Messing Around

Good Music Is Good Music

This year I tried not to give in to bloggers and friends by listening to all the cool new hipster bands. By doing this I missed out on some pretty darn cool music. Good music is good music no matter the hype or who is talking/blogging about it.

I'm not one to be bored. I usually can entertain myself fairly easily, but these past few days I've been . . . not bored, but finding myself with more time on my hands than I normally have. With this free time I've found some really good bands. Here they are. If you have some extra time check them out.

Girls-S/T
The XX-S/T
Passion Pit-Manners
Deer Tick- Born on Flag Day
St. Vincent Actor
Cass McCombs- Catacombs
Fan Farlo- Reservoir
K'Naan- Troubador

A few of those, like Deer Tick, I've had for a while I just hadn't got around to listing to.

Music is good. I love it. It's my third or fourth favorite thing in this whole world.

Jesus Was a Capricorn

Jesus was a Capricorn, he ate organic foods.
He believed in love and peace and never wore no shoes.
Long hair, beard and sandals and a funky bunch of friends.
Reckon they'd just nail him up if He come down again.

'Cos everybody's got to have somebody to look down on.
Who they can feel better than at anytime they please.
Someone doin' somethin' dirty, decent folks can frown on.
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me.

Egg Head's cousin Red Neck's cussin' hippies for their hair.
Others laugh at straights who laugh at freaks who laugh at squares.
Some folks hate the whites who hate the blacks who hate the clan.
Most of us hate anything that we don't understand.

'Cos everybody's got to have somebody to look down on.
Who they can feel better than at anytime they please.
Someone doin' somethin' dirty, decent folks can frown on.
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me.

Help yourself, brother.
Help yourself, Gentlemen.
Help yourself Reverend.

Snowed Inn. . .

This is day number three of being snowed in. The roads are bad. We can't really drive anywhere more than 10 miles away.
As bad as this is, it doesn't compare to the great Rexburg blackout of 09. Those were crazy times. At least I have internet and cold Dr. Pepper.

Movies I Think Everyone Should See

Today I was thinking about my favorite movies. If someone were to ask me I don't think I could give you one. I have lots of favorites. I'll try to condense this into a small list. If you're bored over the break you should rent one or two you haven't seen.

-The Royal Tennanbaums: The best movie I've seen in the last 4 years. Turned me on to other Wes Anderson films.

-Dirty Dancing: Most people think I'm joking about this one. . . I'm not. It has the best line of any movie ever, "Nobody puts baby in the corner".

-Field of Dreams- This one could never get old. It was before Kevin Cosner did movies
like Water World and the Post Man

-The Wedding Singer: It's a bit of a chick flick, nonetheless a great movie. Killer soundtrack too. Most Adam Sandler movies could be on this list. Happy Gilmore changed my life.

-Forest Gump: I saw this with my grandparents in theaters back in 1994, Christina was 5.

-The Natural: The best baseball movie ever, plus Robert Redford is just so dreamy. Major League and The Sandlot fall close behind.

-Vision Quest: It's about wrestling, and LIFE! It's from the 80's. Madonna makes a cameo :)

-Stand By Me: One of the many inspirations for our walk to Winco. The Story of Lard Ass is a significant part of Gibson family history.

-Flight of the Navigator: Probably my favorite move between the ages of 4-7.

-Disney's Robin Hood(You know the fox one): I thought I was Robin Hood for at least 10 years of my life

-Away We Go: I was in need of a good movie when I saw this one. . . It was a good movie.

-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: The best love story ever. I cried and I don't cry

Left on Laura, Left on Lisa

"We climbed the ladder to the top of my house
Never letting go of your hand
The sky trades the moon for the sun my girl
The sky trades the moon for the sun

And I gave to you my ugly brown coat
You made it pretty when you put it on
Warmth in the early morning chill my girl
Warmth in the early April"

Oklahoma

One time I went to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving break and it was good.
